Set up a Near room before your Jet Lag home game of hide and seek. Everyone can see the border, and the app handles distance tools and map shading on your phones.
Before you head out
- Pick an area. Start with a few neighborhoods and useful transit connections. Make your game map in Near so everyone sees the same border.
- Agree on the rules. Read Near's round guide together. Choose the hiding time, allowed transit and any house rules.
- Join a room. Make a free account, have one person create a private room, and share the code. Each team needs a connected phone with location access.
- Start hiding. The hiding team picks a legal spot and stays together. Seekers start asking questions when the hiding countdown ends.
Using the physical cards
Keep your deck and rulebook with you. Use the matching supported question in Near for measurements and map shading. Near uses its own question definitions and round rules; card effects or house rules that differ need to be managed by your group.
Near is an independent fan-made app, not affiliated with or endorsed by Jet Lag: The Game, Wendover Productions or Nebula. Please consider purchasing their official Jet Lag Home Game: Hide and Seek.
A few practical tips
- Check transit service and fares before choosing your area.
- Bring a charged phone and a battery pack for longer games.
